our guiding light, joni
“Those who have met my mother know what kind of outrageously beautiful soul she is. Through her 8-year cancer journey, she inspired us all by transforming her pain and suffering into hope. She inspired a community of women to let light filter in through the cracks of the darkness of a cancer diagnosis. The Living Beauty Cancer Foundation took shape by responding to her need and longing for quality of life in the physically and emotionally exhausting cancer journey. With the advancement of cancer treatments, more women are left struggling to understand how to live with the taxing effects long term. I have great pride that my mother’s legacy is the guiding light that allows Living Beauty to educate, uplift and inspire these women to thrive and heal along their cancer journey. It is also this guiding light that leads our Living Beauties out of the emotional isolation of cancer and into each other’s supportive and nurturing arms. Mommy, thank you for the gift you have left us. Your spirit will always shine on as our eternal Living Beauty.” – Amie Satchu

“I feel re-energized with an infusion of love that is unconditional. I cannot thank you all enough for the gift of Living Beauty Cancer Foundation and our activities. My experiences with Living Beauties have been the most impactful in my healing process. I know that for a fact. I would not have been open enough to meet my husband and get married had it not been for my Living Beauty Cancer Foundation sisters’ love and the heart opening activities offered by the retreats.”

“I’ve been a Living Beauty since 2011. I came into this group in pain and with much anxiety about what I had been through, and about what I would be dealing with for many years to come. I am a survivor of stage II breast cancer. While I am finished with treatment, my body is completely foreign to me now. Living Beauty Cancer Foundation teaches us to honor our own bodies. The yoga retreats have helped me to regain strength and flexibility. The sense of community we feel when we’re together helps us to feel whole again. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for helping to send us on these retreats. You have given us an amazing gift that we cherish.”

“Since joining my first retreat, I have gained my self-esteem and happiness, attributes of who I was prior to cancer… It transformed me in so many ways that I never thought or dreamed of… I leave here with hope and optimism.”

“The devastation I felt when I was diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Breast Cancer was immeasurable. At a time when I needed it the most, I was surrounded by women who understood what I was going through and who accepted me without judgment. Living Beauty has allowed us to forever unite as sisters, sharing a bond where words don’t have to be spoken. Their vision has enabled so many of us to not only feel beautiful at a time when we don’t feel that way, but stronger in a way we never felt before. We become whole once again… I am humbled to be among these women, and I am honored to be a Living Beauty.”
